AMD Announces Ryzen PRO 7040 Mobile and Desktop Processors

AMD expands its Ryzen 7000 series lineup with the Ryzen PRO 7040 series of mobile and desktop processors that utilize Zen4 architecture and AMD’s suite of PRO technologies. The mobile Ryzen PRO 7040 processors come with RDNA3 integrated graphics, while the desktop version uses RDNA2 integrated graphics.

The Ryzen PRO 7040 mobile processors utilize a power-efficient 4nm process and can be configured with up to 8 cores and 16 threads. Depending on the variant, the Ryzen PRO 7040 mobile processors have a 4.3 Ghz base clock speed and up to 5.2 Ghz boost clock speed to help out with demanding tasks. You also get up to 24MB of cache, along with up to a Radeon 780M integrated GPU and Ryzen AI engine.

They also come with AMD’s suite of enterprise security features like AMD Memory Guard, Secured-core PC, and chip-to-cloud security technology enabled by Microsoft Pluton.

As for the Ryzen PRO 7040 desktop processors, they can be configured with up to 12 cores and 24 threads and have up to a 5.4 GHz clock speed and as much as 76MB of cache. Like its mobile counterpart, the desktop processors also come with AMD’s suite of enterprise security features.

All AMD Ryzen PRO 7040 series processors will be available starting this month through top PC vendors like HP and Lenovo.
