UPDATE: Here’s Beep’s Clarification regarding its partnership with GHL Systems Philippines:

AF Payments Inc. (AFPI) recently came out with a story announcing another milestone—its partnership with GHL Systems Philippines to expand beep card acceptance in the latter’s partner merchants’ terminals.

Unfortunately, it was communicated that Shell and Watsons are included in the partner list, which is not currently the case.

We are overwhelmed by the interest and enthusiasm surrounding this development, and rest assured, we are diligently working to finalize all necessary processes. Once everything is in place, we will officially announce the GHL local retail partners that will accept beep cards.

After partnering with Mastercard to allow the use of their credit, debit, and prepaid cards to pay for BGC bus fares, Beep is also expanding the functionality of its cards with AF Payments’ partnership with GHL Systems Philippines. Through this partnership, Beep cards can be used as a mode of payment across GHL-operated terminals that include Shell and Watsons soon.

This makes Beep cards usable beyond transport–and a step closer to making them as versatile as transport cards abroad like Suica and EZLink.

To use Beep cards as a mode of payment in Shell and Watsons, they simply just need to tap the card at the establishments’ payment terminals. Aside from Shell and Watsons, AF Payments is looking to expand Beep cards to be usable across more establishments in the Philippines.

Beep cards are available for purchase at LRT 1, LRT 2, and MRT 3 stations, select convenience stores and retail outlets, and online via their official Lazada and Shopee stores.
