ChatGPT is Experiencing an Outage; Here’s What We Know

If you’re trying to use ChatGPT today (June 10) and wonder why it’s not responding, you’re not the only one as the popular AI chatbot is down globally. We were trying to use ChatGPT today for some of our tasks, and we were either given an error or the AI chatbot was simply not responding. A quick check at Downdetector confirms that ChatGPT is facing a major outage.

News outlets like TechRadar confirm the outage on ChatGPT, with some reports stating that all versions of ChatGPT are not working. OpenAI’s website said that ChatGPT is facing a “partial outage”, but it claims that “all impacted services have now fully recovered.” Among the affected services include image and video generation, login, video viewing, and feed.

OpenAI has yet to explain what caused the outage, but USA Today reports that users are having “elevated error rates and latency” on services, Chat GPT, APIs, and Sora. As of writing, ChatGPT can do text prompts at a snail’s pace, while image generation is not responding at all. As of 8:35PM, OpenAI states that they “have identified the root cause for the issue causing elevated errors and latency across the listed services,” and that they are working on resolving the issue.

While its frustrating that you can’t use ChatGPT for the meantime, there are other options that you can use like Google Gemini and Grok for all your AI needs. If you have a subscription with ChatGPT, then it’s tough luck for you.
