Is this Enough?
Facebook’s anti Fake News features have started to make their way here in the Philippines. One of them is an education prompt which appears at the top of the News Feed. Upon clicking, it opens up to a quick article on how to find out if an article is “fake”.
We definitely applaud Facebook for this but in truth this probably isn’t even near enough to be able to address the proliferation of “fake news” here in the Philippines. We still standby our recommendation for the government to strengthen the curriculum to include social media ethics and critical thinking combined with an all-out education campaign to educate everyone on how to avoid getting fooled by unscrupulous propagandists and marketers on social media.
