With their day-to-day jobs that require constant traveling on the roads, delivery service riders are very much exposed to danger and possible accidents due to their nature of work. Foodpanda is happy to announce that their riders now have insurance coverage under the PandaCare Insure Program.

Together with lifestyle insurance provider Igloo, riders can now have a layer of protection when going about their daily tasks. Riders will also not need to worry about insurance payments as these will all be shouldered by Foodpanda.

The riders’ insurance coverage are as follow: accidental death (P125,000), accidental dismemberment (P125,000), medical reimbursement (P5,000), hospital assistance for 10 days (P500), and burial expenses (P5,000).

“The PandaCare Insurance Program is just the beginning of our plans for our riders as we shift towards a long-term and sustainable initiative for them in the year 2022. This is our way to show appreciation, [for] we will not be here without the commitment and resilience of our partner riders,” said Foodpanda Philippines managing director Daniel Marogy.

As clarified by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), foodpanda is allowed to operate along with other food services platforms as providers of basic necessities. With this initiative, riders and their families are given more protection and assurance should anything happen on the job.
