Ford Axes EcoSport, Transit, and Expedition in the Philippines

Ford Philippines has officially dropped the EcoSport, Expedition, and Transit van.

According to Autoindustriya, Ford Philippines gave them the following statement:

Ford Philippines has discontinued selling the current models of the Ford EcoSport, Ford Expedition, and Ford Transit. Ford dealers nationwide will continue to provide after-sales support to customers and honor the warranties of these vehicles.

From now on, the current models of the said vehicles will be their last in the Philippines. So if you are interested in any of them, you should grab them now while there are still units left. There’s no need to worry about the after-sales support and warranty as they will not be affected according to Ford.

Discontinuing certain models is nothing new to Ford Philippines. This has been done many times before, even with iconic nameplates such as the Ford Focus. The reason is plain and simple: they no longer sell enough to keep them in the inventory.

The Ford EcoSport, which used to sell like pancakes before, is no longer relevant in its segment. It has remained the basically same for several years now while new models in the subcompact crossover segment keep on popping every now and then, although mostly made in China.

The same goes for the Ford Expedition. Most of its direct competitors, especially the Nissan Patrol Royale and Toyota Land Cruiser, are already updated if not all-new for this year. So, despite the popularity of the Ford Expedition in the Philippines, Ford has no choice but to drop it as well.

As for the Ford Transit, it seems that the Philippine market is not ready for a tall minibus.
