Google Gives 3D Makeover to the Android Logo

As we wait for the official unveiling of Android 14, Google has shared its updated look for the iconic Android logo. This time around, you get a 3D look to the Android logo, which was last updated in 2019, where it coincided with the simplified naming convention–Android 10, Android 11, and so forth.

In its post, Google explained that the 3D-like visuals of the new logo draws inspiration from Material design–with the bugroid robot being more dynamic to represent how the OS connects people, community, and cultural moments. Moving forward, Google noted that the updated Android stylization–with emphasis on the capital “A”, along with a curvier typeface–also mirrors the current Google logo as well.

“We hope these small but significant updates to the Android typeface will better communicate the relationship between Android devices and the Google apps and services people already know,” Google explained in their post.

Google said that the updated brand identity will appear on Android devices and in more places starting this year, so expect Android 14 to debut this new look. Speaking of Android 14, it seems that the stable release has been allegedly delayed to October 4 to coincide with the unveiling of the Pixel 8 series.
