One of the biggest issues with the service is now gone

Grab Philippines country head Brian Cu has announced that they’re now removing what some riders feel is the biggest issue with the ride sharing platform: driver’s abilities to see passenger’s destination before accepting bookings. Cu shared the development with CNN Philippines earlier today.

“We hear what our riders want and will continue to improve our services while making bookings more efficient for our drivers. We will implement non-showing of passenger information before ride acceptance, as it is a major source of complaints,” the statement from Cu read.

The removal of the feature comes after many Grab passengers have taken to Facebook to air their grievances against what they perceive to be choosy drivers on the platform. One particular post went viral, prompting Cu to issue a directive to mine conversations of passengers and drivers.

Grab also issued penalties to drivers with high cancellation rates, which included suspensions from driving with the ride-hailing platform.

Grab was previously testing the auto-acceptance feature in their app, rolling it out to around 5,000 drivers initially. It seems that the complaints from their consumers, along with a show cause order from the LTFRB over said complaints forced them to implement the future ahead of schedule.
