There’s a lot of great, affordable laptops coming out of China in the past few years that some people might feel overwhelmed over what laptop to choose. We actually stumbled into one great choice that can punches way above its weight – the Haier Yi15.
What’s most surprising about this laptop is the fact that it uses an Intel N100 processor instead of the usual Core i3 or i5 that we typically see on more common laptops out there. But don’t think any less of the Haier Yi15 because of it. Since it’s mostly targeted at the productivity crowd, it’s the perfect processor for it since it’s powerful enough for school and office work, and since it doesn’t use up a lot of power, the Haier Yi15 stays on a lot longer than comparable notebooks. This processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The design of the Haier Yi15 isn’t going to win awards, but that’s perfectly fine considering who it’s for. The sleek, all-black look of the laptop makes it blend perfectly in an office and school environment, and surprisingly the display can rotate 180 degrees and lie on the table flat.
Speaking of the display, it’s a 15.6-inch full HD IPS panel, and while it doesn’t look anything special, it’s not bad either. It’s relatively bright and the images it produces are good considering the laptop’s price range.
The laptop has plenty of ports as well – you have two USB Type-C ports, USB 3.2 ports as well as 2 USB 2.0 ports, 3.5mm jack, microSD card reader and a barrel charger. The keyboard is shockingly decent, which isn’t what you typically expect from laptops that has this price range.
Overall performance is okay, and again we have to stress that this is a productivity-focused machine, so you shouldn’t be gaming with this. For processing word documents, participating in online meetings and watching YouTube and movies, it’s a perfectly good laptop that you can buy for an affordable price.
