GOMO has finally rolled out its Roam service, which allows its subscribers to use their GOMO SIMs outside the Philippines. GOMO Roam is a much-welcome feature to its subscribers, especially for those who travel a lot and need to use mobile data for things like navigation, communication, and social media.

For its initial rollout, GOMO will be offering 3 different Roam packs: its universal roaming pack is priced at Php 399, and gives you 1GB of roaming data good for 3 days. For comparison, Globe’s Roam Surf 399 also offers 1GB of roaming data but is only good for a day. Cherry Roam, on the other hand, has a Php 500 data pack that offers unlimited roaming data for 1 day.

GOMO said that its roaming services cover over 160 destinations, and its FAQ reveals that those covered include countries like the USA, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Spain, Italy, France,m Canada, China, Australia, and more.

GOMO has special packages for Hong Kong and Thailand: the Hong Kong roaming package is priced at Php 599 and gives you 3GB of roaming data for 5 days. On the other hand, the Thailand roaming package is priced at Php 799 and gives you 15GB of roaming data for 8 days. 

Both GOMO roaming packages are roughly the same price as what Globe offers for Thailand and Hong Kong. As for the Thailand roaming package, AirSIM’s offering is $13.99 (~Php 800) for 9 days of unlimited 4G data (with a daily usage limit of 500MB for full 4G speeds). CherryRoam offers a Hong Kong and Macau data roaming bundle that’s priced at Php 900. That package gives you 3GB of roaming data for 7 days.

Here’s a quick guide on buying a roaming package through the GOMO app:

1. Go to the Shop Tab
2. Search for “roam”
3. Pick your desired roaming package
4. Pay using Debit/Credit Card or GCash
5. The roaming package activates once paid. GOMO recommends that you avail of the roaming package upon arrival at your country/destination.

One advantage of GOMO Roam is that you can convert your data ( or “Mo Creds in GOMO speak) to roaming data. It is 30GB for the Universal GOMO Roam pack, and 10GB for both Hong Kong and Thailand packs. For the latter two, you get 1GB of roaming data for 3 days, which should be enough if you only do occasional social media browsing while abroad.
