Here’s Your Best Look at Windows 11

It has been six years since Microsoft launched Windows 10, and it seems that the operating system is due for an upgrade this year with Windows 11. Ahead of its scheduled launch on June 24, a comprehensive set of posts from Baidu revealed practically everything we need to know about Windows 11 and its features. From the get-go, Windows 11 is getting an updated user interface, where the Start menu looks similar to the shelved Windows 10X for dual-screen devices.

The Start menu gets a design refresh, and there is an option to align all the icons in the taskbar to the center, as noted by The Verge. Live Tiles is now an optional feature on Windows 11 (you can still enable it), and includes pinned apps, recent files, User icon, and the Power Button. It is vastly cleaner and simpler than the current implementation with Windows 10. On top of having native dark mode, Windows 11 appears to be a refined version of Windows 10.

For other UI changes, Microsoft is going for more rounded corners in context menus, app windows, and the File Explorer. Being an early version of Windows 11, there are some features that appeared to not work for now. Among these include Windows Widgets, of which Microsoft plans to bring back for Windows 11. The said feature is designed to slide out and provide quick access to information like weather, stocks, top stories, and more.

Aside from Windows Widgets, Windows 11 has a snap control that lets you snap Windows side-by-side, or arrange them by sections–which is very useful for power users.

Given that some design elements were borrowed from Windows 10X, it appears that the now-canceled Windows version would actually release as Windows 11. Do note that this is an early dev build, so we might not see some of these features make it to the official build once Microsoft announces it on June 24.
