How to Register your Smart SIM in the Philippines 2023

With only a few days to go before the April 26 deadline, barely 50% of SIM cards (44.15% to be specific, as of April 19) in the Philippines are registered. As of April 20, only 55.1% of Smart’s subscribers have registered. In case you haven’t registered your Smart SIM, here’s a quick tutorial on how to register it in the Philippines for 2023.

How to register your Smart SIM in the Philippines 2023

  • Prepare your number and SIM serial Number
  • Go to the GigaLife App or Smart’s SIM Registration Microsite
  • Upload a photo of your ID and selfie
  • Wait for Confirmation

Prepare your number and SIM serial Number. While knowing your number is enough, it also helps to know the serial number of your SIM card. Usually found at the back of your SIM card, the serial number is a 16-digit unique code. If it’s not legible, you can check the ICCID on your phone (on iOS devices, it is on the About section), and just check the last 16 digits of the ICCID portion. For Android phones, you can download this app to get your ICCID.

Go to the GigaLife App or Smart’s SIM Registration Microsite and verify your info. There are two ways to register your Smart SIM. One is through the GigaLife App, where you are brought into a step-by-step process of verifying your number.

The other method is going through Smart’s SIM Registration microsite, where the process is similar to that of the GigaLife App–though you will be inputting an OTP from your phone to prove that the number you are registering is yours.

In both methods, you will verify information like your birthdate, gender, address, and email.

Upload a photo of your ID and a live selfie. Also part of the process is uploading a photo of your valid ID, which include the following: Passport, SSS ID, GSIS e-Card, Driver’s License, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, Firearms License to Own and Possess ID, PRC ID, IBP ID, OOWWA ID, BIR ID, Voter’s ID, Senior citizen’s card, UMID, and PWD ID.

After that, you will need to take a live selfie (you cannot upload any of your selfies in your photo gallery) to prove your identity with the valid ID you submitted.

Wait for Confirmation. After you submitted the necessary documents, you should receive a confirmation–either through SMS, email, or via the app–that your number is registered.

That sums up how you can register your Smart SIM in the Philippines in 2023. Do you have other concerns, or faced some issues? Do let us know in the comments section.
