GCash Overseas is a new feature from the eWallet platform–and is a great way to remit money to your loved ones and pay bills from abroad without the hassle of one-time PINs (OTPs) and without the high transaction fees. What makes this feature great is that you can sign up for a GCash account using an international number–though it’s currently available to Japan, Australia, and Italy.
But how do you sign up for this? We break down all the necessary steps you need to utilize GCash Overseas–which includes the need to download another app.
Step 1: Download the GCash app
Before you can use GCash Overseas, you need to have the GCash app downloaded on your phone. You can download it from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android.
Step 2: Verify your account
Once you have the GCash app, you need to input your international number (do note that it’s currently available only in Japan, Australia, and Italy) to sign up for an account. As for account verification, you take a photo your Philippine Passport or any valid Philippine ID and follow the steps to take a selfie to complete the verification process. Once verified, you can use GCash Overseas.
Step 3: Cash in
To cash-in to your GCash Overseas wallet, you can use the REMITLY app. Here are the steps:
1. Download or open the Remitly app available in the App Store for iOS users and Google Play Store for Android.
2. Under mobile money, select GCash as your preferred e-wallet.
3. Enter the recipient’s name, mobile number, and other information needed. Make sure that all the details you input are correct.
4. Confirm the details and transfer the amount.
5. After transferring the amount, you will receive the funds directly in your GCash Overseas wallet.
Aside from Remitly, you can use Western Union, Payoneer, or Japan Remit Finance to cash-in your GCash Overseas account. The procedure is more or the less the same with Remitly.Â
