Change is coming to Instagram. Users can now tell a more complete and compelling story through its newest feature that allows sharing of multiple photos and videos in a single post. Think of it as a digital flipbook – simply swipe your screen to see the rest of the pictures. For now, you can only upload a maximum of 10 photos or videos or a combination of both.
This is now available on Instagram version 10.9 for iOS as well as Android.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how it will work:
- There will be a new icon on the upper right hand corner of the photo that will enable users to choose up to 10 photos or videos. It’s possible to change the order by tapping and holding a particular photo.
- To make the post more visually appealing, filters may be used on each photo or video or may be applied in a batch.
- Users may be able to post multiple photos but they still have to tell one story because you can only use a single caption for the entire photo set.
- All posts will still be in square format. Blue dots will indicate that a post is a part of a series.
While there are contrasting opinions about this latest Instagram development, the truth is it can be pretty useful to some users. Fashion mavens will be able to show a step-by-step outfit guide. Foodies will be able to feature more than one dish. Tech online publications (like Unbox) will be able to show product unboxings more effectively.
Like it or not, change is coming to Instagram and it is best for us to know how to make the most out of it.
