Huawei’s MateBook D14 has been one of the brand’s fastest-selling laptops since its introduction a few months ago, and now the company is refreshing the model with the MateBook 14 (2020).
Much of the exterior of the laptop stays the same: you’re still getting a 14-inch 2160 x 1440 IPS panel in a chassis made from aluminum alloy and a Slate Grey colorway, as well as a generous keyboard with big, island-style keys with backlight, recessed webcam as well as an integrated fingerprint scanner in the power button.
The big change this time around is the swap to an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of NVMe SSD storage.
I’m not going to go into a deep dive into all the performance gains you get with the new processor especially when compared to similar chipsets by Intel – you can read our detailed hands-on of the MateBook 14 (2020) for that. The short version here is that the new processor gives the laptop a big performance boost over similarly-positioned devices, and there are certain scenario’s that even Intel’s Core i7 mobile processor can’t match it.
That makes the MateBook 14 (2020) an even compelling notebook for general purpose use since it’s powerful enough to make short work of most applications that people use the most.
The new MateBook 14 (2020) is priced at Php 54,999. Huawei’s sweetening the deal by including a Freebuds 3i in the package as well as a Classic Backpack when you buy one from October 10 to 24. You can also get it up to 24 months 0% interest from all major banks as well.
