Huawei Makes the Nova 8i Official with 66w Charging

It has been a while since we have seen a Nova phone made official outside of China, and Huawei is set to break that hiatus with the Nova 8i. The latest Nova phone serves as a successor to 2020’s Nova 7i.

Huawei Nova 8i Specs:

  • Snapdragon 662 processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 128GB storage
  • 6.67-inch Full HD+ LCD display
  • 64-megapixel f/1.9 main camera with PDAF, 8-megapixel f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor, 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro camera
  • 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera
  • 4G,
  • WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC
  • Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • 4300mAh battery
  • 66w charging
  • Android 11, EMUI 11

The Nova 8i shifts to a centrally-placed circular module that is reminiscent of Huawei’s Mate 40 series. Inside the module is a quad-rear camera setup that consists of a 64-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a pair of 2-megapixel cameras–one for depth sensing, and another for macro shots. Selfies are taken care of by a 16-megapixel snapper that is housed in a pill-shaped punch hole.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 662 processor that is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, along with a 4300mAh battery that supports Huawei’s fast 66w charging. Huawei claims that the 66w charging can fully top up the Nova 8i in under 40 minutes.

The display is a 6.67-inch Full HD+ LCD variety with a conventional 60hz refresh rate and a pill-shaped punch-hole for the selfie snapper and an additional sensor. You get Android 11-based EMUI 11 out of the box, and it should get HarmonyOS 2 in the near future.

Huawei has yet to announce the official price and availability of the Nova 8i globally and in the Philippines, so expect them to give an update on that in the coming weeks.
