With foldables, the two form factors we’re familiar with are the book type and the clamshell type. HUAWEI thinks it’s possible to combine both form factors, which is the idea behind the Pura X. This foldable has a 3.5-inch outer display and three cameras on the cover panel, and unfolding it reveals a 6.3-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio that makes it look like a mini tablet.
With this form factor, the Pura X is meant to be rotated when unfolded, with its hinge sitting on the side when folded. Both displays are 120hz LTPO OLED panels with a peak brightness of 2500nits. Its unconventional form factor also means that you are meant to take calls when the phone is folded, evident by the earpiece beside the cameras.
The cameras consist of a 50-megapixel f/1.6 RYYB main shooter with OIS, a 40-megapixel f/2.2 RYYB ultrawide shooter, an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixel selfie camera. Keeping the lights on is a 4720mAh battery that supports 66w wired and 40w wireless charging.
The Pura X comes with HarmonyOS 5, and while HUAWEI did not disclose the processor powering it, it can be configured with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Â The Pura X starts at CNY 7499(~Php 60k) for the 12GB/256GB model and goes up to CNY 9999(~Php 79k) for the 16GB/1TB variant.
