It has been a long time coming, and Chinese car brands Omoda and Jaecoo officially cemented their presence in the Philippines. Their initial lineup for 2025 includes the Omoda C5 and E5 and the Jaecoo EJ6.
The latter is a more intriguing offering, as this boxy SUV is an EV that’s capable of off-road duties with its Intelligent Electric Four Wheel Drive (for the AWD version). Its dual electric motor outputs 275hp and 385nm torque, and has a quoted range of 421km for the AWD version. Its 69.77kWh battery can be used as external power, making it ideal for those who plan to use the EJ6 for camping.
Using a DC fast charger, you can top up the EJ6’s battery for as fast as 30 minutes, while a 6.6-kWh wall box charger will take you around 12.5 hours to a full charge. Being meant as a lifestyle off-roader, the EJ6 has ground clearance of 170mm, but can wade through waters at up to 600mm deep.
The EJ6 has a sleek interior design that consists of an LCD gauge cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment display for controlling most of the car’s features. You get premium audio as well with its 12-speaker Infinity sound system.
The AWD version of the Jaecoo EJ6 is priced at Php 1,799,000, while the RWD version is priced at Php 1,649,000. Those purchasing will get a portable charger, a wall charger, and 2 years of free PMS. The pricing of the EJ6 places it close to an entry-level Fortuner and a mid-range Corolla Cross, two cars that are its potential competitors.
For the warranty, Jaecoo promises a 7-year (or 200,000km) bumper-to-bumper warranty and an 8-year (or 200,000km) battery warranty.
