Lightroom CC will Now Have Video Editing Features

Aside from updates for Photoshop for the Web, Adobe announced that Lightroom CC (not to be confused with Lightroom Classic CC) will now gain video editing abilities, allowing photographers to edit short clips using the app.

With the update, users can do color correction with videos just like how they do it with photos, along with basic trimming of clips. Do note, that these new features coming to Lightroom will not overlap with what video editing apps like Premiere Pro has to offer; instead, this feature is geared towards color grading select video clips.

If you want to arrange clips in a timeline, you will still need a dedicated video editing app for it.

“For any customer who wishes to make a single video clip look its best for social media, we don’t want them to have to step outside of their Lightroom workflow in order to do that. In addition, for any photographer sharing out photos and videos together, we want to enable them to achieve the same look across both their photos and videos,” Adobe Lightroom Product Manager Benjamin Warde explained to Petapixel.

Video edits done using Lightroom CC do not compress or lower the quality, and all edits are “non-destructive”. As for export options, all videos edited using Lightroom CC are exported as high-quality MP4 files using H.264 or H.265 for HDR videos.
