With the pandemic cancelling out salon visits, the revelation of the L’Oréal Colorsonic at CES could not have come at a better time.

The beauty company has revealed that its  new handheld device can provide consistent salon quality hair dye application because it can mix and even apply dye evenly.

Over the course of five years and with the help of its customers, L’Oréal was able to develop and refine the device. The handheld L’Oréal Colorsonic is able to blend the exact volumes of developer and formula from colorant cartridges to create the hair color in a mess-free process. As for application, the device has a nozzle of bristles that moves in a zigzag motion where the dye comes out of.

While at home hair coloring kits have been around for quite a while now, salon application quality is still on another level. If the L’Oréal Colorsonic truly works as promised, it probably is worth the investment.

The beauty company is no stranger when it comes to developing technology. In fact, they have become a mainstay at CES.
In 2019, they revealed a sensor that measures skin hydration levels. In 2020, they revealed a smart dispenser that blends skincare product while taking into account different factors, such as wrinkles, pore visibility, temperature and even pollen levels. In 2021, they revealed a DIY lipstick maker released through their brand YSL.
