MIDRANGE MADNESS: Samsung Unveils Exynos 1380 Processor

If you thought Samsung was going to let its Exynos line go into the good night, think again. The Exynos 1380 processor is set to take over the midrange market with more capabilities than ever before. Here’s the scoop.

This Exynos 1380 chipset is an octa-core powerhouse sheltering four Cortex A78 cores running at 2.4GHz and four Cortex A55 cores running at a lower 2.0GHz. This may very well be the big.LITTLE architecture we have grown accustomed to in order to save on battery life and efficency.

This is paired to a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU that should be able to take on the graphical demands of modern games and other processes. Overall, Samsung boasts an improvement of up to approximately 40% faster execution speed, 20% faster game loading, and 30% powerful multi-core performance as compared to the outgoing Exynos 1280. AI capacities have been drastically increased as well.

The chipset is also 5G-capable which is a major selling point in areas wherein 5G bands prove to be much faster than their LTE counterparts without sacrificing reliability. Speeds supported here are up to 3.67 Gbps download and 1.28 Gbps upload.

Meanwhile, camera support is now rated for up to a sky-high 200-megapixels, zero shutter lag at up to 64-megapixels, High Dynamic Range, and Electronic Image Stabilization. All this content can be viewed on a display with up to Full HD+ resolution and a silky-smooth 144Hz refresh rate.

Storage speeds are now also blazing-fast with UFS 3.1 support, and the latest Bluetooth 5.2 is onboard for seamless connectivity.

The Exyos 1380 is expected to debut with the Galaxy A54, which should go official in the coming weeks.
