MMDA Plans to Remove Coding Window Permanently

MMDA Plans to Remove Coding Window Permanently

Anticipating the heavy traffic for the coming holidays, the MMDA plans to remove the coding window with the current number coding scheme permanently.

The MMDA approved a resolution to remove the current window hours for its number coding scheme last October 25. However, the MMDA clarified on its official Twitter/X account that it has yet to implement the removal of the coding window since they have to study the volume of vehicles after the long holiday.

As of today (November 6), the number coding scheme that MMDA is implementing includes a window from 10AM to 5PM. One of MMDA’s admins on Facebook confirmed that there’s no advisory yet on when the no window hour coding scheme will be implemented.

Aside from its plan to remove the coding window permanently, there are no other significant changes to the number coding scheme. If there’s any consolation, at least it is not as ridiculous as its other proposal where cars ending in 1,3,5,7,9 are prohibited every Monday and Tuesday while those ending in 2,4,6,8,0 are prohibited from public roads every Tuesday and Friday.

Motorists should not have a hard time adjusting to this coding scheme where there are no window hours, as cities like Makati and Las Pinas have been strictly enforcing this already.

Aside from its plans to remove window hours permanently, the MMDA coordinated with major mall operators to adjust their operating hours to 11AM-11PM starting November 13. Aside from the adjusted operating hours, the MMDA also informed mall operators that mall-wide sales are only allowed during weekends and that deliveries are only allowed from 11PM to 5PM except for supermarkets and restaurants serving breakfast.

Even though we have coding scheme, the volume of vehicles still exist. The best solution i supposed is to eliminate the colorum/unregistered vehicles on the road which increases the volume of vehicles in major thoroughfare regardless if it is private, government and public. Thank you.

Well this rule is like penalizing the regular people who can afford to maintain only one car. The window is fine. Stricter implementation of traffic rules is the key to learn traffic.

If MMDA plans to remove the coding window time forever, is there any exemptions to senior citizens who needs emergency medical assistance in hospitals ?

para po sakin tama po ung pgalis ng window hour para kahit ppno poy mabawasan at medyo maibsan ang bawas kontrol ng mnga sskyan s karsada lalo n sa main road..malaking bagay ang isang buong araw n wala sa karsada..if we need to sacrifice just to lessen the big volume of vehicles..

removing window hours will only result to more vehicles because most people will just buy another car those who have only 1 car in order to escape coding scheme

It’s a band-aid solution. Won’t really address the issue. Instead, catch unregistered, colorum vehicles, those that are unworthy to be on the road, and study how other countries manage their traffic, as there are other cities that have more vehicle volume than ours but they manage fine. Also study the phase out scheme, of after a certain time, a vehicle is phased out.

nobody must be allowed to buy a car if they don’t have legitimate garage of their own. Parking in the street must be penalize.

Pag aralan nyo po mabuti yan Mmda kng yan b ang the best way na gagawin upang lumuwag ang trapiko.

  • WAYNE VAN LUCENA MESIA , November 8, 2023

kahit anong gawin ng mmda hindi talaga maiiwasan volume ng sasakyan dahil every year thousands of new vehicle ang lumalabas sa lansangan pero ang kalsada ay hindi naman nadadagdagan.

No window hours has no effect to those own 2 or more cars. But , let’s try this kind of MMDA proposal , and hopefully will lessened heavy traffic nowadays. Also, all colorum vehicles/UV /PUJ and others be disbanded or have strict force to remove them on the roads, they’re too many which added to super volume of traffics’s.
