Atushi Hajima, President and Managing Director of Nissan Philippines, stated that this car is a segment-breaking vehicle. True enough, it has many features that are actually a first in the segment. For the 2022 model, the Nissan Almera is all-new from the ground up—exterior, interior, and engine-wise. It is ready to take on the roads with intelligent features, aggressive looks, and turbocharged power.
Starting with the exterior, the new model embodies Nissan’s “Emotional Geometry” design language. The exterior looks premium and stylish without a doubt. Save for the EL variant, the all-new Almera has LED reflector-type headlights, LED daytime running lights, side mirror-mounted turn signal lamps, and 15” alloy wheels with 195/65 R15 tires. Meanwhile, the top variant—VL Turbo N-Sport—comes with N-Sport design front and rear bumpers, N-Sport design dark chrome V-Motion grille, 16” N-Sport design alloy wheels, and side mirrors that are power-adjustable, power-folding, and equipped with a camera.
Inside, the new model is made more luxurious. In fact, the interior is actually stunning for a car at this price point. The top of the line VL variant gets black leather seats with contrast stitching. The contrast stitching further extends to the door trims and dashboard. The rear seats are also 60:40 split-folding with a center armrest and cup holders. Meanwhile, the seats for VE M/T and VE CVT are made of fabric with gray stitching. All variants, except for the EL, have 7″ TFT meter with integrated drive-assist display, keyless entry system, engine push start-stop system, power windows, power door locks, single-zone automatic type A/C System, and Nissan 8” Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio compatible with Apple Carplay.
Under the hood, the all-new Almera comes with a one-liter, three-cylinder DOHC turbocharged HRA0DET engine across all variants. This turbocharged engine is capable of producing up to 99HP and 152Nm of torque. The best thing about this engine is that it can do 23 kilometers per liter of fuel. Moreover, the suspension is a combination of independent MacPherson strut with stabilizer at the front and torsion beam with stabilizer at the back. Brakes are discs at the front and drums at the back.
As mentioned, the new Almera is equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility. All variants except for the base model EL have Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB), Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW), and Intelligent Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD). Only the VL variant has the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), and additional airbags (side & curtain). However, all variants are equipped with the usual Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Anti-Locking Braking System (ABS), and driver and front passenger SRS Airbags.
