NOW OFFICIAL: nubia Z50 Ultra W/ Under-Display Selfie Shooter

If you didn’t know yet, then be glad you know now: the ZTE nubia Z50 Ultra is now official, and it’s packing some impressive camera specs. This is the brand’s flagship offering for the year and could be a game-changer on the affordability front. Here’s why.

The biggest selling points on the nubia Z50 Ultra are its cameras. You’ll find a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 sensor at the rear with a 35mm equivalent focal length. This is something you’d find in modern-day DSLR setups more than anything else. Meanwhile, also present are a 64-megapixel periscope lens with an 85mm equivalent focal length for those crispy zoomed shots as well as a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter.

This is a high-level arrangement right there. However, the selfie camera isn’t about to get overshadowed. It’s a fourth-generation Neovision sensor outputting 16 megapixels. Additionally, it’s an under-display variant so there are no punch hole cutouts or notches here.

We haven’t seen the under-display cameras a lot since the technology was still in its relative infancy and the shots were affected in the past. We have high hopes that ZTE has done enough to ensure that their implementation is the best that current tech can offer. Due to this, the bezels are extremely minuscule and almost appear borderless.

On the metallic frame are your typical suite of buttons alongside a unique physical slider than can be used to mute notifications, turn on gaming mode, or take photos.

The rest of the nubia Z50 Ultra smartphone is cookie-cutter flagship stuff. The display is a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate for an optimal content consumption experience. Its beating heart is the top-shelf Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset supplemented by 8-16GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage.

ZTE nubia Z50 Ultra Price

The nubia Z50 Ultra will be available in two standard colors: Gray and Black, with an option for a third limited edition color modeled after Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.”

There is no local pricing yet but the limited edition color will be sold in the (12/512GB) variant for CNY 4,999 (approx. PHP 39,740).

We’ll be sure to keep you posted!
