nubia Z50: Cheapest Smartphone With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2?

ZTE has just unveiled a new addition to its nubia lineup of phones. This brand is no stranger to bang-for-buck gaming devices with lots of examples sheltering flagship chips in the past. It seems that the team wants to complete a repeat of the same formula, potentially offering the CHEAPEST way to get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 through its latest nubia Z50 smartphone. Here’s what it’s all about.

The highlight feature on the nubia Z50 is its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Yes, that’s also the same cutting-edge processor found in the top devices this 2023, which will also come in the highly-awaited Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup. There’s been a race to whoever can get the processor in their devices first and release to market, but history has shown time and time again that simply having eyewatering specs doesn’t necessarily lead to the best experience.

Are there a ton of compromises with the nubia Z50 to put in such a mighty chipset? We think not.

At the front is a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution and refresh rate of 144Hz. That’s higher than the industry standard 90-120Hz found on even top-range devices. With an AMOLED panel, colors are sure to become vivid and bright which transcends the limitations we often see with IPS LCD panels. Additional specs for the display include 1000 nits peak brightness and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

It’s a behemoth that should be fun to watch content on, considering the DTS:X and Snapdragon Sound tuning on its stereo speakers.

Multitasking duty is supported by up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. The camera module in the rear holds a 64-megapixel Sony IMX 787 main camera sensor with a 35-millimeter lens and OIS. Meanwhile, the second sensor is a 50-megapixel ultrawide module. The main system only has a dual-camera setup, but both these sensors are top-shelf which we love to see. It’s miles better than any mediocre triple or even quad-camera arrangement.

Keeping the lights on is a 5,000 mAh battery pack which can be topped up with 80W wired charging. On the software side of things, Android 13 is installed with MyOS 13 on top.

nubia Z50 Price

With that, it might just be the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device, beating out even the iQOO 11 series.
