Omnivision Unveils World's Smallest 200MP Camera

Last September, Samsung officially released its 200MP ISO CELL HP1 sensor, the sensor being used by high-end models from Xiaomi, Huawei, and Samsung. What makes the new sensor from Omnivision even better is that it’s also the world’s smallest 0.61um pixel size 200MP resolution image sensor. In addition, the Omnivision 200MP sensor is also the first 200MP sensor to use QPD (4-phase detection) technology for phase detection autofocus.

The new sensor from Omnivision has a large bottom of 1 / 1.28 inches and a resolution of 16384×12288 pixels. It also has its own 16-unit merge technology. This sensor provides high-quality video and preview quality in 12.5 megapixel mode, especially in dark places.

Furthermore, Omnivision’s 200MP sensor (OVB0B) comes with industry’s first 16-cell binning function for 4K2K video. Its sensitivity is 16 times that of similar products. In dark environments, 4×4 pixel binning can be used to achieve 12.5 megapixel performance and a pixel size equivalent to 2.44 µm.

Having said all that, 200MP camera from Omnivision promises a great output. The sensor supports 50MP at 24 frames per second (fps) and 8K video at 30fps, delivering performance equivalent to 1.22 µm. In addition, it supports triple exposure HDR output for 12.5 megapixel photos at 30 frames per second.
