OnePlus devices started off as giant-killers with extremely low prices and flagship specifications. As phone prices climbed in recent years though, they have had no choice but to ride the rising tide to keep the business sustainable. As such, the company divided its mobile lineup into three, catering to different target markets. The high-end devices would be the main OnePlus lineup, the upper midrange would be the Nord’s territory while the Core Edition (CE) smartphones take the lower spectrum of the midrange. Now in its second generation, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is set to light the market up upon its leaked release next month.

Twitter tipster Max Jambor posted a teaser on his page, clearly indicating the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G along with a date of February 11. The rumors speculate that it is a rebadged Oppo Reno7 SE. According to compiled word-of-mouth around the industry, the smartphone will come with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G processor. The rear will sport a triple camera setup spearheaded by a 64-megapixel main shooter. Supporting multitasking will either be 8GB or 12GB of RAM, which is an abundance for a lower midrange device. Keeping the lights on is a 4500 mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. Price is estimated to be between $315 to $370.

We enjoyed our time with the first OnePlus Nord CE when we reviewed it. Its onboard Snapdragon packed enough punch, so we’ll be excited to see if the switch to a Dimensity processor has improved it. We were also off because the Nord’s display didn’t feature the richness we’re used to seeing from other AMOLED panels, so we’re crossing our fingers that these issues have been resolved in the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. Nonetheless, we were reasonably impressed by the OnePlus Nord 2, so we’ll set the bar high for this one.
