You Can Now Play Lotto (Legally) Online

If you want to play the lotto online legally, the PCSO announced last December 15 that it has begun a trial run of its online lottery system or e-lotto. Unlike online gambling or POGOs that have very sketchy sites and often lure players to being hacked, PCSO claims that its e-lotto system is secure, as it will require a valid Philippine ID and Philippine SIM number before you can register for it.

Aside from those strict requirements, e-lotto exclusive agent Pacific Online Systems Corporation (POSC) adds that they added a comprehensive security system into their platform, ensuring that player’s sensitive data are safe against cybercriminals. “We have measures such as data encryption, access control, security audits, audit logs, network security, and data loss prevention,” POSC President Jackson Ongsip, President of POSC.

Given its online nature, there are two ways to register for the e-lotto: via a web client, which is now available, and through a phone app for Android users.

With e-lotto, the PCSO forecasts a projected total sales of Php 70 billion for next year. As of November this year, the PCSO has hit Php 55.3 billion in sales.

To entice players to try out e-lotto, the PCSO will have a minimum jackpot prize of Php 500 million for both the Grand Lotto 6/55 and Ultra Lotto 5/58–with the possibility of adding another Php 500 million by the end of the year.
