With the rise of AI video generation tools like OpenAI’s Sora and Google Veo 2 (that’s used for the HONOR 400’s image-to-video generation), videos created by AI are more realistic than ever. It becomes a problem especially if AI videos are used to spread disinformation.

In the video, PLDT disclosed from the start that everything in the video is AI generated using Google Veo 2. However, what’s nice with PLDT’s AI generated video is it demonstrates all of the different scams that people face everyday. With this #BeCyberSmart campaign, PLDT wants to make everyone to be vigilant in spotting fake videos. After all, awareness is important in helping people determine fake and manipulated videos in the internet.
What can we learn from PLDT’s #BeCyberSmart campaign? Even with the rise of scams that use AI videos, it’s important to help each other in understanding and protecting from old scams that utilize technology in trying to victimize people.
