Here’s How PLDT Helps Communities with Learning Hub Facilities

In its push to provide fast and reliable internet connectivity to various communities, PLDT and Zone V Camera Club team up once again in opening a HOPE Learning Hub in Bagong Silangan, Quezon City on November 18.

This is the third HOPE Learning Hub that Zone V Camera Club has established to date. Other HOPE Learning Hubs are located in Sapang Palay, Bulacan and Tondo, Manila. This also marks the third year that PLDT and Zone V Camera Club have partnered, with the former sponsoring the internet connection for beneficiaries.

For this year, Zone V Camera Club partnered with Virlanie Foundation, which is an organization that provides essential care for children in marginalized areas of the country.

The Learning Hub in Bagong Silangan has 10 desktop computers that students can use for their assignments and school projects for free. Virlanie said that the space aims to benefit 250 learners from 10 to 22 years old, along with their mothers who are part of Virlanie’s Community Livelihood Program.

All computers are connected to PLDT’s Home Fiber, with speeds reaching download speeds of 830Mbps based on the speed tests we performed on one of the computer stations. PLDT will sponsor the 1Gbps Home Fiber connection at the Bagong Silangan Learning Hub for 3 years.

“This project will greatly help us in our mission to provide the most disadvantaged children with a caring family environment, opportunities for their healing, and development through a multi-disciplinary approach, “Virlanie Foundation Executive Director Arlene Fernandez said.
