With compact foldable phones being more competitive these days, Samsung wants to show that they are the best at it with the Galaxy Z Flip5. This time around, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is a big upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip4 in many aspects. The two most obvious changes include the significantly larger cover screen, which has now grown to 3.4-inches.

By having a larger cover display, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is more functional even when folded: the cover display can be used for more things like composing replies to respond to messages, a bigger viewfinder for framing selfies with its two rear cameras, and a better view of the quick control panel.

The other obvious change here is with the hinge: unlike its predecessors, Samsung finally revamped the hinge of the Galaxy Z Flip5 to have a gapless design–in line with what the competition has to offer. Like all Z Flip phones since the Flip3, the Galaxy Z Flip5 retains the IPx8 rating, making it one of the few foldable devices to have an actual water resistance rating.

Despite having the same camera hardware on paper–12-megapixel for the main camera, and 12-megapixel for the ultra-wide camera, the Galaxy Z Flip5 has improved its overall camera performance–partly thanks to its use of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor. You also get faster LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, with the former being available at up to 12GB for the first time.

Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip5 has a foldable 6.7-inch 120hz Dynamic AMOLED display with a punch-hole for a 10-megapixel selfie shooter, along with a 3700mAh battery that supports 25w wired and 15w wireless charging.
