Does anyone remember the Samsung Galaxy Beam? It seems the brand is back at it again with the “make it quirky by slapping a projector in it” mantra. Samsung has filed a patent for a smartwatch containing a projector inside. Except this one works a little differently.

This Samsung Galaxy Watch mockup has been shown not to project items onto the wall, but onto its user’s hand. It uses several lenses and LED emitters to turn your hand into a mini-cinema.

It’s not just futuristic, but also an optimistic concept that shows all of one’s vital health statistics as well as notifications from social media and the like. Although it would be interesting to see how they deal with the issues of privacy and the like. Another possible concern is also how details appear on different skin tones and colors. Samsung has more than enough time to work on this and make sure that it’s as useful and not just a gimmick that dies down after a bit of time.
