Schneider Electric recently concluded the Philippine Finals of Go Green, with Team Yumari hailed as this year’s Country Champions. Team Yumari consists of Angelica Limpe Canadano, Rochelle Dichaves, and Frances Camille Prado, who are graduate students completing their Masters in Innovation and Business at the Asian Institute of Management. Their group bested teams from Ateneo de Manila University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and University of the Philippines-Diliman.

Team Yumari’s winning project, called MoveMent, is an ecosystem that uses art installations to subtly encourage hotel occupants to take more active steps to lessen their carbon footprint. It aims to raise awareness among hotel guests and clients of their impact on climate action. This is in line with the primary objective of Go Green Philippines for 2023, where the goal is to create a plan and urge the construction sector to embrace technology to reduce its carbon impact.  

“MoveMent is designed as a general public-facing complementary product for hotels to Schneider Electric’s own EcoStruxure Building Management System (BMS),” Dichaves explained. “While EcoStruxure’s powerful data BMS enables building managers to monitor, manage, and maximize a building’s sustainability features, MoveMent harnesses the same data through interactive and immersive art installations for the general public to create tangible, approachable, and inspirational nudges to move people toward sustainability.” 

Now in its 13th year, the Go Green global student competition was created by Schneider Electric to inspire students to develop innovative, disruptive energy solutions for a sustainable future. The opportunity to get professional mentorship from Schneider Electric Experts, a trip abroad to see a Schneider Electric HQ, and job opportunities inside the company are all provided to winning teams.

“Through our Go Green competition, we harness the creative and innovative energy of the youth in developing solutions that they, along with future generations, can benefit from. Team Yumari is an outstanding representation of what our next generation of Filipino innovators has to offer, and we look forward to their presentation in the regional finals next month,” the HR Director of Schneider Electric Philippines said. 

Team Yumari will represent the Philippines against student delegates from throughout Asia-Pacific in the regional finals happening on September 2023.
