Shell Philippines Launches Its First Charging Station for EVs

Shell plans to open 8 charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in the Philippines. The first one just opened at Shell SLEX Mamplasan Northbound and it’s not like your ordinary EV charging station.

Unlike the AC chargers currently installed in other establishments, most notably those found at UniOil and SM Malls, the Shell Recharge Station uses a 180-kilowatt DC fast charger and this is the fastest way to charge your electric vehicle.

Charging costs Php 65 per minute. Therefore, a modern electric vehicle (EV) which can fully charge within 30 minutes will  only have to pay Php 1,950. On top of this savings, EV owners are also eligible to earn points using their Shell Go+ Cards.

The charging station, with its Star Charge Titan 180 300A, can accommodate two vehicles simultaneously using its CCS2 connectors.

The best part is, the charger itself is powered by electricity generated through carbon neutral means. This includes the use of solar panels installed on the roof of the Shell Recharge station.

In addition, the convenient location will allow drivers to enjoy the facilities of Shell SLEX Mamplasan where more than 30 locators including fast food and coffee houses are situated. EV drivers can even use the Shell Helix lounge as well.

The roll out of the Shell Recharge is part of Shell’s global thrust to lower its carbon emissions helping the drive towards a more sustainable future. Ultimately, Shell plans to become a net-zero (carbon neutral) company by 2050.
