Smart Communications Inc. has officially unveiled a new platform for mobile eSports in the Philippines, dubbed the Smart Giga Arena. The online platform allows people with varying skill levels in mobile games like PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Call of Duty Mobile, and League Of Legends: Wild Rift.
Aside from matching different Filipino players with comparable skill levels with each other, Smart is promising multiple tournaments with big prizes including cash pots for tournaments done daily, weekly and monthly. To power the platform, Smart has partnered with global esports company LEET Entertainment. Smart also marks its five years of partnership with mobile game developer Moonton as it includes Mobile Legends: Bang Bang among its featured mobile games.
Accessing Giga Arena is simple: you simply go to Smart’s Giga Arena website and sign up for an account. While you can play with regular people casually via the game of your choice without any charge, you’ll need tickets to join tournaments where cash prizes are on the line.
Tickets are earned by buying GigaGames data packs and depending on the tournament being run, each tournament requires a certain amount of tickets to enter. Smart is promising daily, weekly and monthly tournaments, and we’re assuming that the prize pool scales accordingly.
Teams will be able to join tournaments together as well, and team leaders can initiate entries by simply signing up for one. He’ll have to specify his team members at the beginning (as well as their IDs and phone numbers), and everyone on the team will need to have enough tickets to join the tourney to be eligible to join. Once your team is victorious, you’ll receive your cash prizes via PayMaya.
Smart will also be live streaming matches and tourneys through the app, so you can watch your favorite teams duke it out during tourneys. You’ll also be able to buy merch through the Arena store including skins for the participating games.
