Spotify Wrapped 2021 is here. Let’s see what the most played music and genre are on Spotify in the Philippines this year.
Spotify Wrapped reveals the top artists, albums, songs, playlists, and podcasts every year. Yes, you probably have seen Spotify Wrapped stories all over your Instagram page, however, Spotify does not only “wrap” an individual’s annual music summary, but also does a summary per country as well.
In the Philippines, K-pop came out on top as the most-streamed genre. Next to that is Western pop music, and finally our very own OPM. South Korean supergroup BTS is the most streamed artist, putting the K-Pop genre on top. BTS is followed by Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ben & Ben, and Ariana Grande.
Despite K-Pop being the top genre, Zack Tabudlo’s “Binibini” is the most streamed song in the Philippines on Spotify this year. The song also topped the charts in the Most Repeated Local Songs. Meanwhile, Ben&Ben came out on top as the most-streamed OPM artist, followed by Moira Dela Torre, Skusta Clee, Zack Tabudlo, and Arthur Nery.
Moreover, artists with Filipino roots also clinched two of the top five global spots: with fast-rising pop singer Olivia Rodrigo’s “ Driver’s License” on the third spot and Filipino funk icon Bruno Mars’ “Leave the Door Open” on the fifth spot.
As shown by Spotify Wrapped 2021, Filipinos are listening to local artists, music, and musicians with Filipino roots more than ever.
