Starlink Updates Offerings in the Philippines for 2025

Like other internet providers, Starlink is updating its offerings for 2025 in the Philippines. For its latest update, it has emailed its subscribers who have the “Residential + Portability” service that they will be given the Roam Unlimited Plan instead, which is priced at Php 4,100 a month.

Looking at their local website, Starlink is only offering two plans for Personal users in 2025: aside from the Roam Unlimited service, there’s still the regular Residential Plan that’s priced at Php 2,700 a month. The difference between the two is that the Roam Unlimited service lets you use Starlink nationwide—making it more suitable to those who need an internet connection on the go.

What’s unfortunate, however, is that you need to subscribe to both plans if you intend to use Starlink both at home and while you’re on the go.

While a Starlink kit is expensive—the Starlink kit will cost you Php 28,000–it utilizes satellite connectivity, allowing you to have access to the internet even in remote places. While speeds may vary depending on weather conditions, Starlink proved to offer decent speeds according to Speedtest, being able to attain median download speeds of 110Mbps based on its 1Q 2023 report.

However, Speedtest’s 3Q 2024 data shows that Starlink’s download speeds are at 26.8Mbps based on Speedtest’s reliability rankings, trailing behind the country’s major internet providers. Despite that, Starlink still has the benefit of giving users internet connectivity even in remote areas around the Philippines.

I’ve had Starlink for years now. It works flawless in a rural area.
The measured download speed in the article, doesn’t mach with mine at all. I have an average over 100mbps mostly around 150mbps
I can connect as many gadgets i want, i have no limit in usage.
Fiber has come to my area, speed is fine, as what they promise. but som eusers here tell me, it isn’t that fast
Some fiber customers complain over limited number of gadgets allowed, the way things works today, there are often many gadgets using internet, in a home.
Also complain that even they are promised unlimited download, speed goes dramatically down, after reaching around 200 gb in a month.
Some fiber plans have a subscription tied for 3 years. Starlink have none at all, after paying the initial payment for the kit, it’s yours and no subscription period. You can stop anytime you want
    For me, Starlink is perfect

Clarification- when you subscribe for starlink say residential plan at 2,700 per month Apart from it, you still need to spend 28,000 for the Starlink kit?

I am an American retired in Cebu. In America, Starlink charges $130 (7,500 php) for the same residential service that is 2,700 here. I looked into getting Starlink, but my place is too obstructed. I am very happy with globe prepaid fiber for 699 per month with 60 mbps down and 50 mbps up. It is superior to what I had in America, where fiber is rare. Most people get there internet through cable tv lines in America. If I lived out in the remote countryside, I would probably get starlink, but fiber is a better deal in the Cebu metro area.

I don’t think that’s the case that you have to subscribe for “both”. You can just subscribe to the Roam plan even if you use it at home. Only difference is you can move around the unit to different locations.
