We all know Christmas and New Year’s season in the Philippines is one to behold. It’s quite merry due to the abundance of festivities, manifesting in hordes of people raiding outside establishments. When the sun sets, most settle at home with their families and partake in fun activities alongside a healthy meal. When it’s time to sleep, the neighbors singing at the top of their lungs aren’t going to help give you those Zs. It is an integral part of local culture. Well, the Apple Music Sing functionality aims to move users from dedicated karaoke machines or makeshift YouTube alternatives. Here’s what it’s all about.
This latest Apple Music Sing functionality will be available to all Apple Music subscribers worldwide. Supported devices will be the iPhones, iPads, and even the new Apple TV 4K.
Features are aplenty here. The first is Adjustable Vocal Volumes, which lets the user decrease the vocal levels in a song. They can either engage in a passionate duet with their favorite artist or even completely mute the artist out and take over center stage. Millions of songs in the Apple Music catalog will support this Sing function. If they forget the lyrics, no problem; the words will be flashed onscreen, live and in time with the time to sing them. The words dance to the rhythm too!
Background vocals can be operated independently from the main vocal line too. This is to increase musical harmony and just give another layer of immersion to the singing experience. Last is Duet View, automatically splitting the lines between various singers in the room to make duets or multiple-artist tracks easier to jive with.
The platform will also be launching a suite of more than 50 dedicated companion playlists featuring all of the epic songs, duets, choruses, and anthems that have been compelling people all around the world to sing — fully optimized for the Apple Music Sing experience.
“Apple Music’s lyrics experience is consistently one of the most popular features on our service,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “We already know our users all over the world love to follow along to their favorite songs, so we wanted to evolve this offering even further to enable even more engagement around music through singing. It’s really a lot of fun, our customers are going to love it.”
We’re looking forward to seeing this Apple Music Sing function work in real life. Maybe we’ll release a song cover soon?
