Starting off with the vanilla vivo X80, it’s rocking the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor that is more or less the equivalent of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. We are expecting much from it due to the fact that it is a flagship chipset and is slated to be featured in many high-end devices this 2022. It gained attention within the vivo X80 itself since it ranked #4 of all smartphones on Antutu Benchmark, crushing other SD8G1 devices. It was the highest non-gaming phone on the list. This power is supplemented by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Up front is its 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display which we’re sure gets plenty bright and colorful. A 120Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling buttery-smooth. An in-display fingerprint scanner and 32-megapixel selfie camera also reside within the device’s face, while its backside shelters the 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 main camera with OIS and PDAF, supported by 12-megapixel ultrawide and telephoto lenses. The company vivo has performed some tweaks along with legendary optics firm ZEISS to further refine the mobile photography experience.

Providing juice for all these cutting-edge tehcnologies is a 4,500 mAh battery that can be topped up again via 80W quick charging. Other notable specs include 5G compatibility, HiFi audio through its stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.1, and Android 12 with a FunTouchOS skin.

Now we move on to vivo’s proud halo phone in which they’ve placed everything with no holding back whatsoever.

The vivo X80 Pro is essentially the base X80 with everything turned up to 11. Replacing the Dimensity 9000 is the popular Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, although we have yet to see how these perform compared to each other. Screen resolution has been bumped up to Quad HD+ as well and achieves peak brightness of 1,500 nits, with an increase of battery size to 4,700 mAh to compensate for this. As expected, the vivid HDR10 tech is supported.

We were able to review the X80 Pro and were extremely impressed by its camera performance. It carries a 50-megapixel ISOCELL GNV main camera along its 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 ultrawide and 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 telephoto lens. An 8-megapixel periscope with 5x optical zoom can be found as well, all protected with ZEISS T* reflective coating. Images taken were consistently superb regardless of lighting conditions, location, and other factors that usually affect smartphone imaging. This makes sense, as all these technologies were developed to give the Pro an edge in nighttime photography.

This device performed like an absolute champ and is a solid option for those looking for a do-it-all flagship phone to keep for years to come.
