Hopefully it stays that way

So the Department of Science and Technology is creating multiple free Wi-Fi hotspots in several areas around the metro. The project is set to be officially launched on July 24, but apparently there are a couple of areas that already have the hotspots that people can connect to, one of them being in the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

One of our media friends from Interaksyon, Bimbo Santos, posted this photo on Instagram about the WiFi speed of said public hotspot at the Quezon City Circle. We were very surprised to see just how fast the internet speeds were, as it managed to break the 10 Mbps barrier easily.

It’s important to remember that the free WiFi hotspots aren’t widely known as of yet, and the fast speeds may be because of the limited number of people connected to the hotspot (more people connected to a single hotspot, the slower it’ll get) but we’re hoping that the DOST can maintain this level of service on the free hotspot areas that they put up.

Good job and congratulations, DOST-ICTO! Here’s hoping you can keep this speed up for all of your hotspots!
