In an unexpected twist of events, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has decided to proceed with the purchase of Twitter.
Regulatory filings revealed that the magnate is proposing to buy the social media for the pre-agreed price of $54.20 per stock, which is about $44 billion in total.
Moreover, according to sources, the deal can happen as soon as Friday. This is after a filing in Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed the transaction is bound to happen at the price agreed upon on April 25.
The agreed price was approved by shareholders last September. However, Musk tried to pull outclaiming Twitter has way more bots and fake accounts. Implying that the numbers provided are misleading.
On the other hand, Twitter said that his comments were based on a misunderstanding of how bots are counted, and the whole debate is scheduled to go to trial on October 17, unless resolved before then.
Elon Musk has always been vocal, especially on Twitter. He even went as far as calling out Bill Gates for shorting his company, with a body-related meme on the side. Despite all his online antics though, none of them really come close to this issue he had with the social media giant.
