During its press release for its 2021 Q4 financial results, Activision Blizzard officially announced its plan to bring the Warcraft PC game to mobile devices sometime this year.

Found in the company’s financial report is this statement:

“Blizzard is planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and getting all-new mobile Warcraft content into players’ hands for the first time.”

This is actually not surprising as rumors about the Warcraft mobile game have been circulating since 2017. However, it was never official until now. And even until now, Blizzard has yet to reveal more detailed information about the game and its exact time of release. Nevertheless, it is only a matter of time until this exciting game arrives.

As of writing, Hearthstone is the only mobile presence for Warcraft— a franchise that’s more than 25 years old already. The Hearthstone is a free-to-play game launched on iOS devices back in April 2014, and for Android devices at the end of that year. However, Hearthstone is a card-collection game in mobile devices which is far different from the action RPG experience of World of Warcraft or the real-time strategy of the first three Warcraft titles.
