Xiaomi To Release Redmi Note 12 Lineup: Cheapest 200MP Camera?

Xiaomi To Release Redmi Note 12 Lineup: Cheapest 200MP Camera?

The latest Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 lineup seems to be on the horizon, with rumors popping up left and right on the internet. Here’s what we know about the series so far.

Based on current speculation, the lineup will contain three devices: The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and the range-topping Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G. Despite the intimidating Pro moniker, these should be priced within the midrange to budget flagship segment should they follow their predecessor’s footsteps.

Rumors indicate the presence of the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 1080 in the entire lineup to bolster its performance against its competitors. This is an interesting change from the previous model which came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. Others have mentioned that charging wattages may also climb up as we go up the line, starting with a respectable 67W, then 120W, and finally a blistering-fast 210W option. Considering the fact that we were plenty impressed with the outgoing model’s 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, we infer that Xiaomi will likely use the same version or a slightly improved one for this upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 lineup.

The Pro models have also been making quite a lot of noise due to rumors about the camera system. These could be the most affordable 200-megapixel devices available in the market, at a fraction of the cost of its competitors. Esteemed tech tipster UniverseIse even had this to say: “By the way, the price of this phone is about 20%-30% of the (Samsung Galaxy) S23 Ultra. In China, you can buy a 200MP mobile phone for a small amount of money.”

We’re quite excited to see what these Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 smartphones bring to the market at their time of their release. Hopefully, the expectations especially for the camera don’t fall flat on its face due to problems with hardware or software.

Read our theories and thoughts on megapixels to see why we don’t count on the count.
