Blizzard Isn’t Stopping at Diablo Immortal

Mobile Games for all their IPs?

One of the big announcements during this year’s  Blizzcon, much to the delight or dismay of the public, was the announcement of Diablo Immortal; a mobile version of the popular Action RPG that they’ve been working on with NetEase Games. While they’ve had Hearthstone available for iOS and Android users for a while now, the unveiling of this IPs shift to mobile games affirms that Blizzard is taking mobile games more seriously and it looks like they’re not stopping there.

In fact, one of Blizzard’s Executive Producers — Allen Adham — has been quoted saying:

In terms of Blizzard’s approach to mobile gaming, many of us over the last few years have shifted from primarily playing desktop to playing many hours on mobile, and we have many of our best developers now working on new mobile titles across all of our IPs…

If Blizzard isn’t throwing us a major curveball, which we don’t think they are, we can expect Overwatch, Starcraft, and Warcraft (unless they already count Hearthstone) into the mobile game mix as well. Who knows we may be even getting a mobile version of their popular MOBA as well — Heroes of the Storm.

What do you guys of Blizzard’s shift to mobile? We know there have been rather strong feelings and backlash regarding Diablo Immortals already.
