Content made from the original Warcraft III will work in this “remastered” version
Aside from a mobile version of Diablo, Blizzard announced at Blizzcon 2018 that there will be a remastered version of Warcraft III with Warcraft III: Reforged. Based on Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne expansion, Reforged has a full visual makeover that includes remodeled characters and animations, updated maps and campaigns, and a revamped World Editor.
Aside from the graphics overhaul, Reforged is compatible with the original Warcraft III, which means maps and other community-created content from the OG game will perfectly work with Reforged.
“Let’s push it. Let’s get it to be as perfectly balanced as StarCraft. Let’s add more to the editor because it’s already powerful. And like a good Blizzard game, it’s easy to learn, difficult to master, [but let’s] also make it even deeper,” senior producer Pete Stillwell said in an interview with Polygon.
Warcraft 3: Reforged will be available for both Mac PC in 2019 for$29.99 for the regular edition and$39.99 for the Spoils of War Edition. The latter includes unique skins for four of the game’s hero units and several in-game bonuses for other Blizzard games.
