Instagram has evolved over the years. From being a social media platform for photos, Instagram today has features such as direct messaging, Instagram Live, Instagram stories for short-form videos, and IGTV for long-form videos.
Not content with the app’s features, Instagram rolled out group video chat for both Android and iOS. Located in the Direct button on the top right corner, group video chat lets you chat with four friends at a time.
While you guys are chatting, you can minimize the group chat window and scroll through your Instagram feed, should you find something interesting to talk about with your peers. There are long length limits with group video chat, so you can talk to your friends for as long as you want.
With this new feature, Instagram is encouraging its users to do everything—from posting photos and videos to talking to a friend—within the app, which should help expand the social media platform’s 1 billion active users.
