It is Lalamove’s way of helping out jeepney drivers
If you have updated your Lalamove app recently, you will notice a subtle change at the home page: instead of three options, you also get a fourth option in the form of LalaJeep.
This new delivery option was made possible in partnership with the Quezon City local government. The month-long project (LalaJeep services are available starting today until July 15) aims to provide a livelihood to jeepney drivers who were displaced by the community quarantine. The LalaJeep option also serves as an affordable option for businesses that are reliant on delivery services.
“Since our jeepney drivers are directly affected by the continuing community quarantine, this LalaJeep program is a welcome initiative which will provide alternative livelihood for them,” Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.
Around 200 jeepney drivers have signed up to be part of the fleet, all of them given training sessions for easy onboarding with Lalamove’s system.
