Dark Knight Rises Impressions and Reaction

Dark Knight Rises Impressions and Reaction

We just came back from an early morning screening the Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan’s 3rd movie in the Dark Knight franchise and I can’t wait to catch this on the IMAX tonight! So how good is the film? Simply put it wraps the whole Trilogy quite neatly. Is it epic? Yes it is; it’s very epic.

The Dark Knight Rises

It’s not as solid as the Dark Knight, Nolan’s 2nd movie in the franchise, but that’s because Dark Knight Rises aims to do more than just tell a story, it helps round everything off; loose ends from the previous 2 movies are patched and packed neatly in this awesome conclusion.

The action is brought to a more elaborate scale than the previous 2 films and this film has more twist and turns than the first two film combined. That being said, the portrayal of our two main antagonists was quite impressive. Not as alluring or as psychotic as Mr. Ledger’s take on the Joker but every time these two are on screen it just brings pure fun.

I do have to hand it to Tom Hardy’s Bane, he’s able to draw the audience in despite the mask and the muffled voice. He puts a different kind of depth on Bane not seen on screen (yes that includes the animated series as well).

Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman is a much grounded approach to the character than Michelle Pfeiffer’s in Batman Return. Although her Catwoman won’t be as romantic as Michelle Pfieffer (or have more memorable lines “I am Catwoman, hear me roar”), I love how Anne puts various conflict of character in her portrayal that you’re forever on the edge if she’s on the side of good or evil or walking that thin line between. In fact, this may well be the best translation of Catwoman based on her character from the comic.

Overall the Dark Knight Rises is a strong contender over who’s the better Summer Super Hero blockbuster against the Avengers.

We’ll give you guys a more in-depth review in the coming days. We don’t want to spoil anything, anyway. J  But while waiting for that we urge you to ready your cape and cowl and head toward your local cinema for the epic finale to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy: the Dark Knight Rises
