Netflix Debuts Fun “Play Something” Feature

Netflix Debuts Fun “Play Something” Feature

If you have been binging a lot on Netflix and came to a point that you do not know what to watch, that’s no longer a problem: to address this, Netflix announced its new Play Something feature. This nifty feature makes use of your watch history to recommend you new titles to watch.

The latest feature is now available on the TV version of the Netflix app, and there are different ways that you can find the Play Something button:

  • Underneath your profile name

  • The tenth row on your Netflix homepage

  • The navigation menu on the left of the screen

Upon tapping on the Play Something button, Netflix will recommend you a TV series or movie based on your watch history. It can be a KDrama, a Hollywood blockbuster, or even an Anime title–you never know which show will actually match your preferences! Another tap at the said button will bring you any of these:

  • A brand new series or film,

  • A series or film you’re already watching,

  • A series or film on your list, or

  • An unfinished series or film you may want to revisit.

This feature is a boon for all of Netflix’s current users, as it helps them discover new movies and films along the way without going through endless scrolling for hours—which is all the more important these days especially when most of us are at home due to quarantine restrictions. It is also a convenient way of recommending some titles to your family members or friends in case they also can’t think of what to watch next.

Currently, the feature is exclusive to TV versions of the app, and Netflix is testing on the Android version of the app, so expect Play Something to be available across all Netflix apps in the coming months.
