Smart has officially unveiled their new video data bundles that allows consumers to view video sites like youTube, Dailymotion, Viemo, Viestream, Skype Quick and Dubsmash for as little as 5 pesos.
The new packages allow pinoys to view video streaming sites without eating up a significant amount of their data allocation. “Smart is thrilled to make online video content more affordable and accessible to Filipinos who are avid viewers of YouTube’s trending music videos, viral clips and online sensations,” said Michele Curran, First Vice President and Head for Data Services at Smart.
“This is a big bet for us, because we all know that half of videos already are coming from mobile,” said Google Philippines Country Manager Ken Lingan. “Talagang nagiging mobile first ang Philippines. Partnerships to telcos like Smart is very critical if you really want to ge Philippines to get more access. We all know that one of the things that hold people back from data plans is takot (fear). They’re afraid that this will be so expensive and bill shock is always a problem. With this, Smart is going with a playbook taken from consumer goods, they’re making it more accessible, more affordable, and it’s always good to know what you’re paying for,” he adds.
The packages start with the YouTube5 bundle, which offers 65MB of data for 15 minutes of SD streaming for mobile phones, valid for one day for Php 5. YouTube25 steps it up to 160MB of data for 35 minutes of SD viewing on mobile phonbes, valid for 1 day for just Php 25. Moving up the chain, YouTube50 gives users 400MB of data for 90 minutes of SD viewing valid for 3 days for just Php 50.
For really heavy users, YouTube199 gives you around 270 minutes worth of SD viewing that’s valid over a period of 30 days, for just Php 199.
